Cold dawn and first light on frozen driftwood, Campbell River, Vancouver Island, British Columbia 130110.jpg
This particular morning I woke early, saw some clouds in the sky and just had one of those feelings .that this sunrise on the ocean might be a particularly good display of lights. Thankfully, since I .know how I operate pre-coffee, my bag was already packed and I quickly put on some layers, .grabbed the dogs, and was off to one of my favorite spots along the beach in Campbell River. I .photographed the warm pre dawn light and watched the birds dive underwater catching breakfast .until the first rays finally broke through the clouds. The frozen driftwood immediately lit up and .the sun felt pleasant and warm on my face. It was a wonderful show of changing colors and calm .seas to start the day with, despite the fact that by the end of shooting I could no longer feel my .fingers or toes!
